  • 2009-12-02: It's that time of the year! In celebration of the holidays I've added a new Holidays section. If you have ringtones for other holidays and what new categories added, let me know! If you already uploaded some Holiday ringtones, please edit them and move them to the new category. Happy Holidays everyone!
  • 2009-10-17: Welcome to the new server! I've hopefully fixed the email issues, but if you're still having problems, please let me know! And if you see any new bugs, let me know about them too!
  • 2009-09-16: I've added a new field for Artist that should be useful for all the musical ringtones that get uploaded. This makes it easier to search and browse by artist. If you've uploaded a ringtone, please click edit next to it and update the artist field if necessary. Thanks!

    Frequently Asked Questions

We're still compiling our Frequently Asked Questions. If you've got a question (or suggestion for one that should be answered here), send us an email at admin@skringers.com. If you've made a video or tutorial that you think belongs here, send it our way too!

What Sidekick models will these ringtones work for?
You can load these ringtones on your Sidekick if either:
    - You have a Sidekick LX 2009
    - You have a non-T-Mobile Sidekick (aka Hiptop)
Why can't I load these ringtones on my T-Mobile Sidekick 3, Slide, 2008, etc?
While every Sidekick and Hiptop has the technical capabilities for using custom ringtones, T-Mobile made the decision to restrict this feature from their users on most of the Sidekick devices. The one exception to this was the Sidekick LX 2009.
How do I load these on my Sidekick?
The easiest way to load ringtones on your Sidekick is via email. When you email a supported ringtone to your device, you will see an additional button next to the attachment in your email that will allow you to add the ringtone. So in short, email the ringtone as an attachment to an email account that you can check on your Sidekick and then look for the button. Once you've added the ringtone, you will be able to select it from the "Imported" category. Here is the official Sidekick LX 2009 manual page on this.
How do I delete ringtones I've imported?
Unfortunately at the time we are writing this, you can't. Apparently somebody at Danger forgot to put in that feature, so currently you can't manually delete ringtones. It is assumed that this will be fixed with an OTAu (Over The Air Update) in the near future.
Why do I have to verify my email address?
In order to prevent people from signing you up and then bombarding you with emails that have attachments, we've implemented an email verification step. When you register for the site, and email will be automatically generated that provides a link you will need to click on in order to verify you truly signed up for an account on Skringers. You don't have to verify your email, but you will not be able to email ringtones directly to your Sidekick until you have verified your address. If you did not receive the verification email, you can re-request it on your account page. If you registered with an @tmail.com email address, please see the next question.
Why am I not receiving emails from Skringers.com to my Tmail.com address?
Unfortunately it appears that T-Mobile is not delivering emails from skringers.com to some users with @tmail.com email addresses. We're currently looking into this, but unfortunately it's something on T-Mobile's side that we can't change. Until this issue is resolved, we recommend you use non-tmail.com email accounts. Remember, you can always download and email ringtones manually. Another workaround is to email the ringtones to another desktop email address and then just forward the email to your @tmail.com account.
How do I create my own ringtones to upload?
There are a number of different ways to make high quality ringtones. There is a step by step tutorial on how to make ringtones for the Sidekick from domo2fr3sh that's pretty simple to use. there is also a video from crazyforkicks that will walk you through an easy way for anyone to make a ringtone:
